Tough Ship is a Minneapolis band that enjoys writing and recording songs that cross and fuse multiple genres. Tough Ship’s charted course is to sing and play each song in the style that serves it best. They have officially set sail with the release of their first singles in May 2023, recorded at Luca Records and mastered at Abbey Road Studios. 50 years ago when Karl Mattson got his first guitar, he immediately started to write songs. Last year, sad that his dream project was still languishing on his bucket list, Karl rounded up his demos and presented them to Parker Grones. Parker’s ability to interpret the demos and essentially hear what was in Karl’s head, along with his skills as an arranger and producer, led to a partnership called Tough Ship. Assisted by a cast of session musicians, Tough Ship is finally fully laden, fully crewed and ready to weigh anchor.
