Taelen J. Cobb is a fourth-year Film and Media Studies major at UC Santa Barbara, originally from Pomona, California. Her research explores the ancestral and spiritual dimensions of Black religious traditions, particularly how these practices are misrepresented in film and media. Drawing on her own experiences with ancestral veneration and divination, Taelen aims to challenge biased portrayals and deepen public understanding of these sacred practices. This fall, she will begin a Master’s program in Religion to continue this academic journey.
