Rahvira was founded in 2003–2004 by guitarist and composer Tigran Rahvira (Karapetyan) and drummer Garegin Vagharshakyan as an expression of the unbreakable spirit of Armenian music, rooted in historical pain, strength, and struggle. With Gevorg Khachaturyan (bass) and Gor Korkhmazyan (vocals), the band played its first live show on April 23, 2005.

After lineup changes in 2006, Tigran Rahvira continued the project and released the single “Symphony of Death,” defining the band’s artistic path. Rahvira plays black metal with cold, dark melodies and philosophical depth inspired by Armenian history and identity. All lyrics are in Armenian, and all music is composed by Tigran Rahvira.

Between 2007 to 2009 was writen lyrics for albums , followed by five album releases and active live performances from 2010 to 2015. 

Since 2016, together with vocalist Aleksandr Arson (Muradyan), Rahvira has focused on re-recordings, new material, and future releases and live shows.

“Ghosts of Darkness” — an eleven-track black metal monument by RAHVIRA — stands as a tribute to the victims of the Armenian Genocide, weaving history, sorrow, and spirit into one conceptual whole. Each song reflects an era of struggle and awakening: “Hey You Aryan…”, “Mountain”, “Awareness”, “Silence”, and “Victory” (2005) echo the people’s pain and hope; “Symphony of Death #1” (2007) mourns the fallen with solemn grandeur; “Only Forward” (2008) voices endurance; “I Am Aryan” (2010) reclaims identity; while “Armenian Spirit” and “The Avenger” (2013) summon defiance and vengeance. Together, they form a spiritual odyssey — from grief to rebirth — a reminder to remember, resist, and rise anew.
