This website purpose is to become an online repository centre that includes information on Malaysian biological diversity.Nearly 400 species of Odonata contained in 17 families can be found in Malaysia. At least 180 species are dragonflies and 210 species are damselflies. This MyBIS book series 'Ancient Creatures: Dragonflies and Damselflies of Malaysia' highlights a total of 69 species of dragonflies and 73 species of damselflies which can be found throughout Malaysia.

This book highlights the history, journey, activities and achievements of the MyBIS project from the early establishment of a website and a database of Flora of Peninsular Malaysia (FPMO) until the rebranding to MyBIS. This project started with the documentation of flora in Malaysia. Then, the Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) started to collaborate with other agencies to include the documentation of fauna and fungi. This information helps many botanists, experts, policymakers and the public to learn more about biodiversity in Malaysia, which will help in raising public awareness and shaping the sustainable management of forest in Malaysia.

According to the literature, there are as many as 191 species of snakes in 14 families in Malaysia. This illustrated book contains a total of 88 species.
