An environmental concern is a situation that you observed that raises a question or concern that what was observed may threaten public health or the environment, such as a trash dump or discarded waste tires in a stream. Focus will be on state and federal cooperation, efficiencies to protect public health, environmentJEFFERSON CITY, MO, FEB. 2, 2026 – After a roughly 25-year hiatus, Missouri has reconvened an Environmental Crimes Task Force to investigate and prosecute violations of state and federal environmental laws. Missouri’s task force combines local, state and federal law enforcement, prosecutors and environmental regulators who will focus on crimes like illegal dumping, hazardous waste disposal, illegal discharges into waterways and more.

Most Missourians are familiar with the large 1811-1812 earthquakes that occurred in the New Madrid Seismic Zone (NMSZ) in southeast Missouri and it extends into a multi-state area. However, Missouri experiences small earthquakes nearly every day. These earthquakes typically are too small to be felt but are recorded on seismographs, devices that measure the earth’s movement. While these earthquakes are more frequent in the NMSZ in southeast Missouri, they also occur on other faults located in Missouri and surrounding states.
