The 2024 edition of the forum, held from November 18 to 19, centered around the theme of “By Youth For Youth.” This theme highlighted the importance of youth-led initiatives, showcasing how young people can motivate and support one another to achieve individual and collective growth and innovation; emphasizing the power of youth collaboration to advance their communities and beyond. This report provides an in-depth analysis of the issues affecting Saudi youth, using the results of GYI 2024 to explore lessons that can improve youth development in the country. The edition examines Saudi Arabia’s overall results and performance in each of the six GYI domains: Education & Skills, Entrepreneurship & Employment, Global Citizenship & Leadership, Health & Wellbeing, National Ecosystem, and Readiness for Emerging Trends. What is the GYI? The Global Youth Index (GYI) is a dynamic tool that measures the key factors shaping youth development worldwide. By assessing 40 countries across six domains Education & Skills, Entrepreneurship & Employment, Global Citizenship & Leadership, Health & Wellbeing, National Ecosystem, and Readiness for Emerging Trends. Now in its third edition, the GYI helps stakeholders to work together on advancing youth development by making comparisons across nations and over time, identifying best practices, and highlighting opportunities for improvement.

YOUTH SHAPING THE FUTURE: Ethical Considerations for GenAI in Higher Education
The Youth-Led Policy Recommendations was developed through a collaborative process, incorporating insights from a diverse group of young participants, aged 18 to 32, representing 17 countries worldwide. These insights were collected through a virtual workshop and a Youth Policy Circle held at the Misk Global Forum 2024 in Riyadh, ensuring youth voices are central to policymaking conversations. This facilitated in- depth discussions and the exchange of varied perspectives, culminating in actionable recommendations to promote the ethical use of GenAI in higher education.

This report, co-developed by the Mohammed Bin Salman Foundation (Misk) and Oliver Wyman, addresses this pressing challenge. Drawing on Misk’s 2024 Global Youth Index (GYI) a comprehensive survey of over 41,000 young people across 40 countries it highlights key insights into youth aspirations, concerns, and readiness to lead. These findings have informed actionable recommendations for youth striving to create change and for established leaders committed to fostering environments where young talent can thrive.
