Happy New Year! Our class will be celebrating Lunar New Year on Monday, 2/23, in the MPR from 8:00–10:00 a.m. Below is a tentative schedule for the celebration. Times may vary slightly and may not be exact. Tentative Schedule: 7:45–8:00 — Set up stations in the MPR (detailed setup instructions will be sent soon)8:00–9:00 — 5 station rotations (8 minutes per station) Adding transition time and 9:00–9:10 — Students get ready for the performance9:10–9:25 — Chinese zodiac martial arts and fan dance performance9:25–10:00 — Feast We will need volunteers for the station rotations and the feast. You are also warmly invited to join the celebration and watch the performance. Outfits for BOTH Days: Girls should wear a traditional outfit with their hair styled in two buns. Hair tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bILieWhzgbk&t=20s Boys should wear a traditional outfit or all black. There are five stations. Each station has 12 students. Each station will run for 8 minutes.

Hello MIP Community! Support our program growth and help us spread the word about the CUSD MIP program at upcoming Lunar New Year community events! We’ll have an information table where volunteers will share program details, answer questions, hand out flyers, and assist with simple table activities. Light setup or cleanup may be needed for the first and last shifts. Middle and high school MIP students are encouraged to join—ideally with a parent or adult volunteer—and students will earn volunteer hours for their participation. (Student volunteers: Please add "student volunteer" to your comment so we can credit your volunteer hours.) See below for sign up opportunities for two upcoming events: Feb. 7 Lucky Lunar Festival (12 - 3 PM at Macy's South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, CA)Mar. 7 Pacific Symphony OC Lantern Festival (10:15 AM - 4:15 PM at Renee and Henry Segerstrom Hall in Costa Mesa, CA) Questions? Both Classes: Fridays, 1:30-2pm Volunteers Needed: Help setup the Treasure Box station(table outside of their classroomes) and assist students with their (Similar to 'Night Market' from 2nd grade) Donations Needed: We welcome donations of toys, stuffies, fun items, stickers, etc., to stock the treasure box! Bring donations to the teacher or contact room parents for drop off.
