The Mustard Seed’s role in this project is that of an experienced service provider, selected by BC Housing to operate The Mustard Seed Solace Shelter. We are responding to an identified need in the community at the request of BC Housing. Our focus is on providing safe, supportive shelter operations, not on policy or political decisions, which remain the responsibility of BC Housing. Located at 1055 Glenfair Drive, Solace Shelter is designed as a safe, supportive space that helps individuals stabilize, restore dignity, and access the housing, health, and wellness services they need to move forward.

The Mustard Seed is a Christian non-profit organization that has been caring for men, women and children experiencing poverty and homelessness since 1984. Founded in Calgary, we are committed to growing hope for our vulnerable neighbors in all the communities we serve, which include Edmonton, Red Deer, Medicine Hat, Grande Prairie and Kamloops. We strive to be a supportive haven where people can have their physical, mental, and spiritual needs met and grow toward greater health and independence. We have been an agent of change for more than three decades, thanks to our donors, volunteers, and support from our communities. “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed that someone took and sowed in his field: it is the smallest of all seeds, but when it has grown it is the greatest of shrubs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches.” - Matthew 13:31-32
