Girton College Tower Keyring

A newly designed silk scarf featuring the iconic ‘Cambridge Alumnae Banner’. The Banner, which features the motto, ‘Better is Wisdom than Weapons of War’ was designed by Mary Lowndes and worked on by students of Girton and Newnham. It was carried by the Cambridge contingent in the National Union of Women’s Suffrage Societies’ procession of 13 June 1908 and in several suffrage processions between 1908 and 1913. Girton and Newnham Banner Silk Scarf

Original art by Girton alumna Una Ryan, the design on this beautiful 100% silk crepe back satin scarf is based on work conducted as part of her PhD thesis on circadian rhythms. The main design is composed using an electron micrograph of insect neurosecretory cells and a satellite image of the Okavango River in southwest Africa. The border is designed from a stained-glass window at Girton. The scarf comes beautifully packaged in tissue and branded box. Dimensions: 42" x 42". Material: 100% silk crepe back satin scarf.
