A Videodança é uma linguagem artística híbrida que imbrica as artes do vídeo e da dança em um amplo espectro de conformações, e que, em sintonia com as transformações socioculturais e tecnológicas, está em constante devir, expandindo-se e ressignificando-se em diferentes ambientes e plataformas. Seja enquanto uma parceria de coreógrafos, dançarinos e performers com cineastas, videoartistas evideomakers, ou enquanto trabalho individual de videodançarinos – que conjugam os saberes e fazeres de ambas as linguagens; a Videodança vem, pouco a pouco, definindo seu espaço no campo das artes nacional e internacional. Em resposta a essa lacuna regional, o PPG Mestrado em Artes Visuais e o Curso de Dança da UFPel em parceria com a Fundação Ecarta promovem O 1º Festival Internacional de Videodança do Rio Grande do Sul– FIVRS.
