5WAVES, Inc., a US-based nonprofit organization, promotes Worldwide Awareness, Voice, Education, & Support (WAVES) to help individuals and families confront and heal from Sibling Sexual Trauma (SST)--the effects of Sibling Sexual Abuse (SSA) and Harmful Sexual Behavior (HSB). Our information hub, siblingsexualtrauma.com, offers information, links, guidance, and referrals to survivors, parents, those who have caused harm, those who aren't sure yet if this has happened to them or their family, and anyone who wants to promote healing or prevent SST/SSA, personally and/or professionally. General information about 5WAVES and SST/SSA is available at 5WAVES.org. 5WAVES was founded by five women from two continents. Each of us has lived experience as survivors or parents of SST/SSA. All of our materials are informed by both lived experience and empirical evidence. We view SST/SSA as primarily a public health issue--one that can be prevented, and that needs to be treated.
