AstonHack 2016 - Best use of Majestic API & Accenture: Best use of multiple APIs

I built a WordPress plugin that would automatically assign tags to my blog posts based on links used in an article and images attached. The aim of the plugin is to boost SEO using these tags. The user does not need to come up with creative tags to describe the content as they are automatically generated.
It used majestic's API to find relevant tags for links and Clarifai's image tagging API to find tags relating to the images attached. -
MLH Prime 2016 - Most Creative Use of Twilio Tools Prize Winner

Me and my team created a tool with Twilios brand new Sync platform that syncs users video state with friends through a chrome plugin. This lets people join a room and watch the same youtube video synced up for everyone. This lets friends enjoy content and react to it together just like they were all in the same room.

Jaguar Land Rover Developer Challenge 2016 - Best use of API
Jaguar Land Rover
Best use of API through the creation of a cross platform mobile app. The app aimed to enhance the customer's relationship with their jaguar vehicle by suggesting new thrilling routes, destinations and adventures the driver can go on.
It pluged into a early prototype API to access onboard metrics of the vehicle such as throttle and steering. This would be used to put through a machine learning API to learn how the driver likes to use the vehicle and suggest appropriate routes -
re:cognition hack 2016 - Microsoft Cognitive Services Prize Winner

We were one of the prize winning teams at re:cognition hack with our cognitive AI twitter bot @NotTaiBot. The bot utilised Microsoft's cognitive API's to analyse images tweeted to the bot or a tag that we specify. It analyses the user's emotion from the image and returns an appropriate tweet.
We also built an accompanying NPM module to assist us in implementing the cognitive APIs and to make it simpler for future users to do so. NPM: cognitive-services -
HackSussex - GitHub Best Developer Tool

We won the GitHub award for best developer tool with our Atom.io plugin calleld paste.io (formerly footsize). The plugin provides users with an extended clipboard to save code snippets and use between projects.
Use cases involve creating websites where content will need to be pasted in multiple places, or remembering functions for different things in multiple languages.
It is written in JavaScript and is available as an atom plugin. -
HackSheffield - Winner & Best use of Amazon AWS

We won best overall hack at Hack Sheffield 2016 with our multiplayer bot arena AlgoFighter.com. The idea behind Algo Fighter was to provide a multiplayer battle arena in which users need to code instructions for their bot to follow in order to kill all other bots on the field.
It uses assembly like instructions in order to program the bot and the players are synced using socket.io ontop of a node express server. HackLondon - Best use of Amazon AWS

We won best use of AWS with our submission Luncheon. A uber like map based app for finding lunch buddies in the area also looking to have lunch and talk about something interesting.
The back end is a node API hosted on AWS and the frontend iPhone app makes calls to our custom back end to match users together based on their location, food preference and topic chosen to discuss over lunch.

Best overall hack at Sacs Hack 2016 with the creation of IceCreamlang.com a fully emoji based programing language that is cloud compiled on amazon aws and can be programmed through an iPhone interface. The language uses no latin characters and is 100% emoji based and can even carry out complex math calculations to complete project euler equations.

Took home the awards from Stirling Council for making an app that tells users how safe cities are in relation to each other based on twitter data and what people are saying about them online.

Hack Kings 2015 - Best use of the Message Bird API

Award for best use of the Message Bird API during the Hack Kings 24 hour hackathon.
We built text message integration into an IRC server. Users are able to join an IRC server on their phone by texting to a Message Bird virtual phone number. They can perform basic IRC commands like /nick /op /join and /topic. The IRC server sends the messages to the user's phone through Message Bird and the user can reply to the channel.

We built a sentiment analysis engine that uses your latest tweets to detect how festive you are during the holiday season. Our algorithm returns a "Festivity Index" of 0 to 100 depending on how festive you are. If you use a lot of predefined positive words your score increases but if you use negative words your score is negatively affected.

Aston Hack 2015 - Best use of Amazon Web Services (AWS)

Project with the best use-case of Amazon Web Services. Our application used AWS to store all our data which we could very rapidly index and search through thanks to the technologies the AWS system uses.
The title of the project was OpenTeach.co. The project aims to make it easier for people to share their talents and volunteer at schools and events in order to aid in teaching or provide workshops and presentations in their field of expertise. -

One of 4 teams to be awarded the hackcess award for prototyping a unique accessibility tool for the disabled.
Our team prototyped the first modular wheelchair cupholder that can be 3D printed and attached to most wheelchair frames. Our product is called the handYholder and consists of a series of ball and socket joints and modular accessories that can fit to the top.

Local Hack Day 2015 Winner - Aston University (Major League Hacking)

Winning project at Local Hack Day Hackathon hosted by Aston University.
As a member of the SelfieSquad team we created a web app that consolidated the Tweets containing the hashtag #LocalHackDay into a picture wall. The app used the Clarifai API to determine which pictures contained faces and only displayed selfies on the page.
The web app utilised Node.js and sockets.io to import pictures as they were tweeted. -
HackSheffield 2.0 - Winner & Databowl Challenge Best Use of Data

We built a real time twitter sentiment analyzer. The web app utilises the twitter streaming API to access a stream of tweets for a given phrase or hashtag and parses each tweet through Google's natural language API beta in order to determine if the incoming tweets are positive or negative. Using this a brand can tell if their brand is being portrayed positively or negatively across social media
