“I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside Syed across multiple high-impact technical events, from AI and machine learning conferences to IEEE research briefings and a recent hackathon. Across all these contexts, Syed has consistently embodied Amazon’s Leadership Principles in a way that’s rare and incredibly valuable. At the hackathon, we built a healthcare-focused voice interface using a text-to-speech pipeline. Syed led the integration of 11 Labs API, wrapping it with a custom interface that synthesized health overviews with clarity and speed. His Bias for Action was unmatched—he had functional code running in a fraction of the time it took others to draft their plans. Even more impressive was how he demonstrated Frugality without compromising quality. Syed reduced API usage costs through batching and caching strategies, and reused existing tooling where possible to accelerate development. He showed us how to innovate under constraint—true Invent and Simplify thinking. Syed’s deep curiosity about research trends was also on full display. At every IEEE event, he actively engaged with speakers, posed questions that pushed the dialogue forward, and extracted insights that he immediately mapped to our own use cases. That’s Learn and Be Curious, elevated by his ability to Dive Deep when it counted most. What struck me most was how Syed earns trust. He listens, incorporates feedback, and always delivers on what he commits to. Whether working with researchers, engineers, or clinicians, he builds bridges quickly through transparency and follow-through—core to Earn Trust and Customer Obsession. Syed is the type of person who doesn’t just show up—he levels up the entire team. With sharp judgment (Are Right, A Lot) and relentless follow-through (Deliver Results), he’s exactly the kind of technical leader any fast-paced, mission-driven team needs—especially one like Amazon.”
