If you are testing queued jobs in Laravel, sometimes you don’t need to run the actual jobs, you just need to know they were dispatched. Queue::fake() intercepts jobs dispatched during the test, so nothing hits the real queue. You can then assert exactly what was pushed, how many times, and even inspect the job data. In this example, we upload a CSV and just verify that two jobs were dispatched, one for each row in the file…but we could verify more complex stuff if we wanted. It’s fast, isolated, and gives you confidence that your controller logic is doing its job… without relying on the job itself. This is the kind of real-world testing we cover in my Testing Laravel course, launching October 31st and optionally bundled with Laravel Microservice.
