Killteams
Genetically modified transhuman warriors, Space Marines are amongst Humanity’s most elite fighting forces. Angels of Death kill teams are composed of elite specialists trained in myriad forms of combat, who are capable of overcoming almost any foe.
"Let nothing dissuade your quest for knowledge. Let none slow your pursuit and acquisition of holy technology. Let none stand between you and the procurement of that which is rightfully the machine god’s due."
- Thusdorius Knoch, Invictus Acquisitor
Athletic, graceful and utterly lethal, the Aeldari warriors that comprise Blades of Khaine kill teams come together to undertake missions of utmost importance on behalf of their craftworlds. They are dispatched to sever specific strands of fate, ensuring that terrible events they have foreseen never come to pass.
Many Astra Militarum troops have turned to Chaos over the centuries, including entire regiments of the Astra Militarum's Imperial Army predecessors that followed the Warmaster Horus into battle against the Imperium during the Horus Heresy.
These Traitors represent the primary mortal troops available to the forces of Chaos, now known as the "Traitoris Militarum" in High Gothic to the defenders of the Imperium. Even ten millennia later, Chaos Lords are known to attract these followers of Chaos into their warbands and personal armies, which vary greatly in both size and strength.
Brood Brothers are the humans of the Genestealer Cults, who have been implanted by Genestealers and have served as hosts for their Genestealer Hybrid offspring.
Many of these Brood Brothers may be members of the local civil or military authorities, continuing to carry out their normal duties in society. They remain hidden until the cult/clan is powerful enough to completely take control of the host society. They regard and often venerate the Genestealer Patriarch as a grandfather or deity. They are especially fanatic members of the clan, motivated by intense, instinctual bonds to their Genestealer and Hybrid relatives.
Canoptek Circle kill teams comprise sinister alien constructs in thrall to their Cryptek master. The emotionless and unliving Canoptek constructs overcome obstacles to a Cryptek’s ambitions, whether rock and metal or the bodies of the living, while their master accesses nodes of power and data to charge the constructs’ ancient abilities further.
Wherever bitterness and discontent fester, so does the worship of the Dark Gods take hold. Zealous bands of cultists throng to the banners of malefic powers. The most monstrous of these zealots are warped beyond recognition, sprouting chitinous claws, leathery wings and all manner of mutations with which to slaughter their enemies.
Aeldari Corsairs or Anhrathe are bands of piratical Aeldari Outcasts. They are a constant threat to merchant shipping, though very rarely pose a threat to a major Imperial battlefleet.
There are many bands of so-called Corsairs scattered across the galaxy, and all are savage and deadly raiders. Outcasts from the strict confines of the Craftworlds, the Corsairs live in self-imposed exile, seeking to explore the galaxy and experience the full gamut of emotion and sensation accessible to the Eldar’s sensitive psyche.
Grim, fatalistic and utterly uncompromising, the Death Korps of Krieg are famed for their endurance and ability to do battle in the most horrific conditions. Death Korps kill teams are made up of veteran specialists who have seen more fighting that many Astra Militarum soldiers will experience in their entire lifetime.
Deathwatch kill teams combat the xenos foes of the Imperium with adaptive expertise and specialist weaponry.
They wield some of Humanity’s most highly advanced weapons alongside more esoteric equipment. Besides their superhuman strength and speed, the Deathwatch bring to the battlefield their hatred of the xenos in all its forms.
Elucia Vhane is a scion of a noble mercantile dynasty. Leaving behind her family’s operations in the galactic north, Vhane led her Elucidian Starstriders to the Eastern Fringe. Alongside her esoteric crew, the bold Rogue Trader seeks to eclipse the rich history of her ancestors with her own rise to glory – or die trying.
It is the responsibility of the Adeptus Arbites to enforce Imperial law. Exaction Squads are formed from the most highly skilled and experienced Arbitrators. They are tasked with hunting down and securing the most heinous of criminals, returning them alive to face the full extent of the Emperor’s justice.
Farstalker Kinbands operate as scouts for the Kroot species. They range far and wide throughout the galaxy, seeking new and valuable genetic material to return to their Shapers. Farstalker Kinbands contain expert trackers, hunters and guerrilla fighters who are capable of matching far more technologically advanced foes.
Of all the mutant Beastmen in thrall to the Dark Gods, Fellgor Ravagers believe themselves the greatest and most powerful. They stalk space hulks, underhives and warp-tainted ruins, using their keen senses to track unsuspecting prey through the darkness before striking and butchering their foes with savage glee.
Corrupted by a gruesome techno-organic affliction, the Gellerpox Infected are nightmarish meldings of flesh, machinery and rampant disease. Most of these hideous beings began as loyal servants of the God-Emperor. Those origins are long gone, however, wiped away by supernatural sickness and a compulsion to spread their infection across the stars.
Goremongers are among the most lucid and reliable of Khorne’s troops, pumping a constant flow of combat stimms mixed with drops of their masters’ blood into their systems while still retaining a modicum of cunning and level-headedness. The first thing they do is to cut off their own legs and graft on a new mechanical pair that brings them closer to the ideal physical form, armed with blood letting chainweapons and ritual daggers..
The Archons of the Drukhari Kabals are forever plotting to expand their sprawling criminal empires. Should their schemes require a subtle touch, they may turn to Hand of the Archon kill teams. These bands of assassins, thieves, torturers and worse wield an array of esoteric and macabre weapons to aid them in their diabolical missions.
Highly adept warriors and explorers of wrecked voidships and abandoned space stations, Hearthkyn Salvagers are tasked with identifying valuable material and marking it for later retrieval. Heavily armed and utterly resolute, Hearthkyn Salvager kill teams seize and defend such claims with the steadfast determination typical of the Kin.
The Hernkyn are those Kin who serve as the Leagues of Votann's explorers, scouts, prospectors and pioneers. To the Kin, any region of blank space upon their star charts is a mystery in need of solving. The desire to plumb the depths of the void, to discover its secrets and claim its riches is deeply ingrained in their psyche, as is the need to know what -- if any -- sources of peril might lurk amidst the shadows.
Led by ambitious and devious Crypteks, Hierotek Circles employ Necron soldiery and unique Canoptek constructs to further the rise of their own dynasties. They achieve this by learning of their lords’ enemies and undermining the power of these rivals through artifice, sabotage, theft and murder.
To the techno-zealots of the Adeptus Mechanicus, the galaxy is a complex mechanism, its workings the creation of their Machine God. They see the acquisition of knowledge as holy work, and task their cybernetically altered servants with carrying it out, no matter the cost.
Counted amongst the complement of many Navis Imperialis vessels, Navy Breachers are elite Voidsmen who are outfitted, trained and endlessly drilled in boarding actions and void-based combat. Wielding a wide array of cutting gear, boarding shields and close-range weapons, they are well-suited to deadly combat in close confines.
The reach of the Inquisition extends across the vastness of the Imperium. Inquisitorial kill teams bring together agents from all strata of Imperial society, from elite soldiers to zealous priests. Together, these disparate elements combine their skills to deadly effect, enabling them to root out and destroy heretics, aliens and the servants of Chaos.
Amongst Cadia's most elite warriors, the Kasrkin are trained from birth in the art of war. Clad in carapace armour and bearing a wide range of specialist wargear, they are the special forces of the Cadian regiments, tasked with completing nigh impossible missions in the defence and furtherance of the Imperial cause.
A Kommando is an Ork Boy specialist who prefers to rely on "kunning trikz" instead of fighting his opponents head-on like most other Greenskins.
Kommandoz serve as the Orks' infiltrators and saboteurs, and are masters of the arts of stealth, ambush, unconventional tactics and striking at the opponent from a totally unexpected quarter.
Legionary kill teams are bitter veterans who possess centuries of combat experience. Some are little more than ravening killers who desire only to reave, slaughter and despoil. Others are devoted worshippers of the Dark Gods, seeking to conduct fell rituals in the hope of pleasing their infernal patrons and attaining greater power.
The Mandrakes can be found in Aelindrach, a region of Commorragh. Literally fallen into shadow, it is one of the several districts of Commorragh that exists in more than one dimension at once. In Aelindrach, shadows thicken and writhe as living things, flowing into one another and attempting to capture those that venture into the district.
It is in Aelindrach that Mandrakes and Shaderavens make their lairs. Rumour has it that somewhere in Aelindrach lies a portal to a world where shade-daemons exist who can freeze the soul with but a touch.
The Night Lords are synonymous with terror and murder, for their favoured mode of warfare is the unfettered application of brutal, overwhelming force. They show no mercy whatsoever, eschewing all subtlety and guile for wanton bloodshed and destruction.
The Night Lords do not worship any of the four major Chaos Gods individually, but acknowledge them equally in the form of Chaos Undivided as they ruthlessly spread terror and fear amongst the galaxy's inhabitants. The Night Lords are experts in the use of terror tactics to win battles and demoralise their foes before the main combat even begins.
New inductees into the ranks of the Adepta Sororitas, Sisters Novitiate who display great zeal and determination are often deployed together in kill teams to hunt down apostates or root out heretics. In performing such duties, they may one day rise to become full Sisters, spreading the Emperor’s light ever further.
Specialist reconnaissance infantry, T’au Pathfinders range far ahead of their allies. Pathfinder kill teams are capable of operating independently of the main T’au force, and are equipped for almost any situation. Their advanced wargear and potent weaponry enable them to disrupt communications, perform acts of sabotage and destroy targets.
Masters of stealth and subterfuge, Phobos Strike Teams consist of Space Marine Infiltrators, Incursors and Reivers. Possessed of transhuman strength and equipped with a range of explosives, communications equipment and precise weaponry, they are capable of outmanoeuvring and overwhelming enemy forces many times their own size.
Corrupted sons of Mortarion, Plague Marines are suffused and bloated with rot and disease. Though compact and slow moving, Plague Marines are horrifyingly resilient, trudging relentlessly towards their objectives while spreading contagion in their wake.
Though less resilient than their baseline Human comrades, Ratlings are naturally excellent shots. It is said that Ratling marksmen can take the head off a Heretic from over a kilometre away. Coupled with their knack for staying out of harm's way, this makes Ratlings formidable snipers who can exact a withering toll upon superior enemy forces.
Ravener kill teams are hyperadapted to such an extent that they are able to overcome all manner of a prey species’ defences. Driven by alien synaptic imperatives, Raveners burrow with horrific speed to strike at prey from vulnerable angles, before using razor-sharp talons, chitinous claws and virulent biotoxins to enact the Hive Mind’s will.
As the Great Gun reloads and its hallowed ammunition is transported across Hive Fissilicus, great processions of pilgrims and preachers accompany these holy relics to their final assembly points. They are far from a peaceful congregation, and any who seek to disrupt the great Day of Firing will find themselves lit by the flames and faith wielded by the Sanctifiers.
Scouts are the new recruits of a Space Marine chapter who have advanced far enough in the early stages of their training and biological transformation to take part in battle with the rest of the Chapter.
More lightly armed and armoured than full Battle brothers, their role is to range ahead of the main Space Marine force, preparing the way for the main advance by infiltrating enemy lines, sabotaging and gathering intelligence — causing as much chaos and disruption as possible.
Stoic Sternguard Sergeant Ramus is joined by Infernus Marine Haroth, Assault Intercessor Maphael, Infiltrator Belath, Intercessor Zeradim and Reiver Nahrden. This elite team is led by a mysterious lieutenant of the Chapter.
"It doesn't matter who or what the enemy are. If they stand between us and following our orders, they'll die for it."
--Tempestus Aquilon Therka Drayv, prior to the Ossinium Drop
The Lieutenant Titus Mission Pack is a spin-off of Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team. Its parent game includes an expanded range of detailed miniatures, evocative terrain and unique rules. Fight tactical battles against opponents with your team of elite operatives, all set within the grim darkness of the far future.
"So swift and so deadly are the Mal'Kor, it is as though they fury of the D'Yangi moon tempests had swept the enemy away. I almost pity those who stand against them"
--Shas'o Vior'la Shem
Even amongst the agile Aeldari, the Harlequins of the Void-dancer Troupes display an almost preternatural level of dexterity and skill. Performance and war merge in their actions, precisely directed to shape the fate of their race.
Many are the dark and terrible secrets of the galaxy, and the Thousand Sons seek to learn them all. Gathering relentless Rubricae and degenerate mutants, Warpcoven kill teams employ sorcery and savagery alike as they sweep aside those who stand in their way.
Wolf Scout kill teams are their Great Company's most feared and accomplished hunters, roving far ahead of the Space Wolves' strike forces on solitary, unsupported missions. They cause death and anarchy behind enemy lines through assassination, sabotage and more besides, often while cloaked in strange mists or furious storms.
Wrecka Crews are infamous Ork Kill Team Units, that love to commit explosive combat during their murderous rampages. They are considered the best of their species and are larger and stronger than the typical Ork. Wrecka Crews also make use of weapons that create explosions and the thought of this empowers them to become Tanked Up and ready to fight. These attributes and their use of 'eavy Armour, makes the Wrecka Crews incredibly durable and deadly in battle.
Genestealer Cults are insidious broods of Human-xenos hybrids that spread unnoticed on Imperial worlds, sometimes for generations. They infiltrate the Imperium’s social, industrial and military fabric, and their elite Wyrmblade kill teams squirm undetected into perfect ambush sites.
Kill teams of XV26 Stealth Battlesuits provide the T’au Empire with experts in innovative tactics considered unconventional – at best – by Fire caste academies. They use infiltration to identify and eliminate key targets, penetrate hostile regions to conduct aggressive reconnaissance, and launch ambushes from within the enemy’s own midst.
