Kim Noce is an award-winning artist, filmmaker, Course Director for MA Animation at UAL and Lecturer at the NFTS.
Her work has been showcased at over 500 international film festivals, on UK TV channels, and on streaming platforms like Mubi and Netflix. She has been selected and won numerous awards from the Chicago International Festival, Venice, EIFF, LIAF, LSFF, IFFEST, Encounters, BFI, LSFF, Document Art, Anima, and Annecy. (Filmography)
Kim has directed and animated several films and commissions for the BBC, CH4, HLF, Barbican, ACE, FLAMIN, and the BFI, to highlight few: “After” (2005 BFI, Venice, Golden Hugo, RTS, Anima), “Forget Me Not” (2007 Hiroshima Festival, Tricky Women, Zagreb), High Above the Sky (2012 TIFF, LSFF, BAA), Nest of Stone (2014 EIFF, Aesthetica, Encounters), “The evening her mind” ( EIFF, LSFF, Enconubters, Anima Mundi) “Love In Idleness” (2016 Annecy, Agreb, MIAF), “The evening her mind” (2017 EIFF, LSFF, Enconubters, Anima Mundi) “Togetherness” (2018 EIFF, ANIMAC, LIAF). Her latest immersive installations and multimedia performances, such as “Your Mothers are Mine” (2018 LSFF, ICA, LIAF), “Seek and Hide” (2019 ODISHA BIENNALE), and “Cities of Ladies” (2021 New York Nil Gallery, Encounters, Athens Digital Arts Festival), have several other have been UNRAVEL (2022) and POWER (2023) exhibited worldwide, including select work at the ICA, TATE, and the Barbican. She has also served as a jury member at festivals such as the LIAF, IndieAnifest in Seoul, and the London British Animation Awards.(News)
Co-founder of MEWLAB (2005-17), Kim has worked on BAFTA-nominated TV series for the BBC, several commercials and commissions for various production companies, including Tandem, Thing1, Partizan Lab, Breakthru films, and large-scale theatre projections for Weinstein Co and Warner Bros, Royal Opera House, National Theatre and many more across the UK. Since 2015, Kim has been the course director of MA Animation at LCC UAL and an NFTS lecturer. She delivers masterclasses worldwide, supervises Ph.D.s, and actively researches projects like “Unravel” (2023-2025), reflecting her commitment to merging multimedia work with participation, performance, education, sustainability and inclusivity. Kim is an associate fellow (2023) and a fellow (2024) of AHEUK. She has presented research papers globally, including at King’s College (2019), Shriti (2020), MUIC (2022), ART+ (2023), and ExEd24 (2024). She has also presented at UAL from 2019 to 2024. She has extensively travelled for residency worldwide. Current educational projects developed are Anicodex (2022- present) and En Plein Air (2022- present) (Research)
Kim holds an MA in Directing Animation from the National Film and Television School (2005), a BA in Fine Art from BRERA Accademia di Belle Arti in Milan (2000), and a Diploma in Architecture and Scenography from the Orsoline di San Carlo in Milan (1995). She completed training at the StoryFutures Academy, the UK’s National Centre for Immersive Storytelling (2021). She recently completed a PG Cert (2022) and is pursuing a second MA in Academic Practice (2026).
