“After roughly a year of dabbling in recording music under the moniker A.M. Tabloid, _____WB$wombat$check$this$function_____(this) past autumn I became engrossed in modern scoring— providing emotional textures to visual mediums in a way that can stand on its own and compel imagery even without visual stimulus.

This culminated in Idle., a 5-track EP that steps away from the pop structures and sensibilities I had explored previously and into a more impressionistic and instrumental dimension. The songs, written over the course of about two weeks with a few back-pocket guitar motifs, are a meditation on feeling displaced in a world that is increasingly creating and consuming for the sake of creation and consumption, aimless—and the value that being still, being idle, can have despite its often negative connotation. Snapshots of memories, desires, the past, the present, melancholy and solace.

With this came the realization that this is where I wanted to direct my intentions, towards putting something into the world that aids in the expression of humanity, rather than the manipulation of it. Thus came the choice to sideline the A.M. Tabloid moniker and instead adopt a pseudonym for my musical efforts moving forward, James Christopher. I hope to invest more of my time and energy into scoring and collaborating with visual artists in the coming months and years.”
