A Shy Smile

I´m sorry, I don´t even recall where I took this (I got slack naming pics), but she is me.

With time (and age) I brave up big, though!

And I do believe "Corinna" and wearing a mask helped me big on the way.

Unlike me... isn´t she a beauty?

Taking part again in Sami´s COLOURFULWORLD Monday Murals.

We Visited Moulin Rouge

Well, see title? Ingo made me... again!

And here, city hall with  ...

And here is proof I made these pics!

I gave my cam to Ingo, sadly the light wasn´t right, but I´ll show you the mask soon!

Hanging on for dear life... again...

See behind me? "Galeria Kaufhof", former "Horten", as some Aussie friends remember. Closes down. 😥 As Karstadt, another huge shopping complex with various shops. All the tiny ones on top... Where are we heading to, "Corinna", "politicians"...?

And yes. The hottest month of the year and we wear jackets. One of the coldest summers I can remember 😥...

Phew, it took forever, but we´re on safe ground now!

But... see last post I trust "my man" (as he is the true....)...   😘

Ingo found this, LOL! Isn´t that too cool?! (You maybe  have to click to read the text Bart wrote over and over again 😂)

I have to say... blogger sucks. Each and every time I have to "tell" the pic to not be extra large (you still can enlarge, though) and oh so often and seemingly without logic I get Times New Roman.

Same with you or am I just simply dumb?

Henry? 🦁

Oh, blogger... you´re for free and I thank you, but please... the old version was a lot better.

He Was THE BEST!

LOL We have a cash-out lady at our shtt#y REWE who wears Christmas deco for the season and we talked  often about our earrings.

Now I stood there opening my backpack whilst she got my grocery through, stopped, gave me a HUGE smile and exclaimed... see title, "HE WAS THE BEST!"

And at first I was like huhhhh????

And then realised I´m wearing a Freddie Mercury T-Shirt, LOL!!!

(Yes, I suck at doing a selfie, sorry bout that)

Despite there was a next customer waiting we chatted about how we miss Freddie, what kind of a generous, friendly man he was and what kind of wonderful music he could´ve come up with.

(A version you might not know?)

That was the first time someone said something about my Freddie-shirts, too! Noticed them.

Henry? 🦁

To Freddie!!!

Do you wear themed t-shirts, too, and are they noticed, do people say something about them?

I remember I got a nasty look from someone when I was wearing a shirt with only WA, Western Australia, showing and a big point on Perth. Who knows where THAT guy was from! LOL

Imagine

Imagine...

Imagine... imagine you were born say... 1938, like my Dad.
Or like W, our neighbour, who knows what hunger is.
My Dad spent more times in a bunker than at school, bombs all around.
W at times had but fish-heads to eat.

They worked hard as kids, unlike me it was more than just throwing ads/newspapers in mail-boxes, they went to the fields, stole coals, potatoes and all.
Then the 50´s came around - better times, hard work, all your life.

Retirement.

Retirement?

This is what chancellor "Mum" Merkel came up with:

Rubbish bins with holders for beer bottles that young people are too drunk and or lazy to recycle, so retirees who have not enough money today do not have to grab into the bins.

Can you believe this????

They collect and recycle used bottles for some mini-Euros 😥

OK, it was early arvo, the bottles were gone - IF there were bottles at all. More important to put some stupid graffiti on it, huh.

Here is another rare one, empty, too:

Most bins do not have this "comfort-gadget", I see so many elderlies.. and it makes me feel so bad, grabbing into the "normal bins" for "treasures".

The smell, sorry, dear lille one, nothing against you...

Now, in summer, it smells real bad. And they have to grab in there.

And then... do not get me wrong, please, but we have sooooo many financial refugees who get more money than our retirees do.

Red Nike-shoes (a sign for "I made it, you dumb ones, work for me!"), gold chains, golden watches, money in hand.
They can take public transport for free - our retirees have to pay.

Why I do not give to the "old" ones? Looking for a job myself.
And my motivation is low. Very low. Red sneakers I pay for others then.
And... offers are rare. I even applied on "Senior Artificial Intelligence Architect",hahaha....

Please understand. I am just telling what is going on here.
Some of "them" called me bitch, whore, did not serve me cause I am but a woman, even as Ingo stood behind me once.

Times are a changing. I do not dare to go lonely places no more. Sad. Same in your place?

Again: REAL refugees are nice. Thankful. Learn the German language and all! But Merkel opened this country up to financial refugees and hence our retirees go out blank.

Henry 🦁
Too sad to show up.
Is it the same in your place??? (Well, not Henry-wise)

P.S. To end on a lighter note, I was in bed already when more comments came in on last post, I answered today and rememered:

Before I knew of the "Moin, Moin" (you rather say that in Emden) - I got a phone call in the late afterno-hooon (arvo) and automatically answered with " Good Morning"!
The lady on the other side of the line laughed her head off. ⛵

But, really, do you have such constructions around your rubbish bins, also?

Big Addendum, Ingo said I forgot something to make you understand correctly, and he is right:
Those two financial refugees said "something" in their language to me. I managed to remember the words and google translate gave  me the words "whore" and "bitch".
My point was: They get more money, despite never having worked here and the retirees who rebuilt Germany get so little they have to go through bins - and Merkel´s answer is the wrong one with these "helpful constructions"...

Languages

 Funny.

Bavarian comes with subtitles in docus, Switzerdütsch not!

Picture? From the Silver Wedding of my parents, Aunt Gerda is my fav! She has no stomach but she spreads fun and happiness.

I understand Switzerdütsch (Swiss-German) as I´ve been there as a kid and my fav Auntie married a very nice guy there (she´s my Mum´s Sister).

Other?

Most of my family are "fish-heads", they come from Hamburg region where I spent loads of holidays as kid with my cousin D.

"Moin Moin" does not mean "Guten Morgen" / "Good Morning", it simply means "hi" 😁.

You say it at night as well.

Here I am with my fav Uncle (whom I am not allowed to call "Uncle", he feels old then, don´t do that to an 80 y-o man!!!). He speaks Hamburg-accent, certainly.

He sadly suffers Alzheimer´s now.

My hair? Mum dragged me to a hairdresser for that, I felt like a clown all evening. The dress I still have, though.

My Omi, who raised us out ot 14 Grandchildren and went "achoi, achoi" driving over, yes, over my brother with her bike (she came originally from near Königsberg).

That is Platt and means "Ach Gott, ach Gott",  "Oh, my god!" - "achoi, achoi"...

The ones we celebrated in 2001, my parents:

Ingo was in Southern Germany and looking forward to "Kromberre". Hm. He was very disappointed it´s "Kartoffel" ,potatoe".

A flatmate asked me for a "Teppsch", I thought he means "Teppich", carpet. Turned out he wanted a "Decke", blanket - it doesn´t even sound alike, Teppich/Decke!

There are so many accents here, go to Austria, you understand most, being German, but some words leave you clueless.

Like, I do speak English, right. Said, "oh, I think it´s gonna rain". Aussi (Australian)-friend M: "Take a brolly!" - "What?!" - "Um-Bre-lla!!!".  Boy, that man is really... LOL.

Friend H: Let´s meet this arvo" - "When???" - "This Af-ter-noo-hoon!" She has that same temper!

Same in your place?

Henry 🦁 ?

So many accents and languages make him all fuzzy!

And... 😍👻 Thank you, dear "jumpers" (last post) - we can build a community, what do you think? 🤣

Be Aware

Signs in our new shopping centre. Been there once, wee, no signs where to find what and all fancy stuff. Hmmm, reckon I´ll stick to our shit#y one around the corner.

But then they have a defibrillator! We need one in the big hall in this house, I guess!

Couple of weeks ago W was trying to get in and me out and I JUMPED, now the new neighbour sneaked in behind me and I jumped again, sadly I make noise, too, like a lille "eeeek!". One day I´ll die of people scaring me off from out of nowhere.

P... Reckon that´s for cars, others look like that:

Now. I do believe this is for car drivers as well as for pedestrians:

Same in your place? Too many cyclists don´t behave. Dark clothes, no light, no helmet, full speed, turning without signaling, wrong direction... A pain for everybody else, also the cyclists who do stick to the rules (there are many, too, certainly).

We should...

This is for "Tom´s "Signs 2".

And Henry? 🦁

We need to live and give, in this case: room! Don´t overrun another person or car.

T STands For Belly HurTs (Yummy Low Carb Cookies)

The 70´s magazine is an endless source for fun-art, isn´t it? The paper was from an arts-collection of paper again. Where did the ladies go?

What I did with the tampon girl who lived there? She moved.

I never wanted a bathroom/loo without a window again and with what did we end up, yes, exactly that! When you go but for a pee you can leave the door open (given there are no guests, certainly!!!)  and you can...

And yes, this is our main and only toilet... the metal to the left on the doorframe... the preowner´s teenage daughter demolished it and Ingo fixed it like this.

Food-wise I BRAVED UP!!! Let me show you (I am afraid of heat):

I made Low Carb Jalapeno Cheddar cookies.

That means... OVEN....

No, wait, I have  an alternative I tried before without burning myself!

Not the right tool, why I want to make cookies at all?! I got a cute pastry roll, but this recipe does not work for it, have a look:

The dough just ripped all the time.

Recipes welcome!!!! Hearty (I still have some from Jan but for now I braved up enough, I think!).

But, what to do? Took me felt ages to grate the cheese!. OK. I braved up, kinda (I cheated, I put them in the cold oven and later just opened the door, but it is a start, right? RIGHT?).

First time in my life! Boooy, when I checked inbetween my glasses instantly fogged up, that hot it was!!! But I did it! (Kinda a bit proud of myself, I know likely none of you understands my fear of burning myself but a student once without asking showed me her burned arm she got from the oven).

Let´s say I was a "virgin", but now I DID it, I used the BIG OVEN, so consider me a "bride" - and let me show you, hence, with what I take part in Elizabeth and Bleubeard´s "T Stands For Tuesday".
The title? My belly hurt cause I ate too much! 🍪

And Henry 🦁? Dunno, behind my back he...

Really, big boy, try my cookies!

Go For It

Maybe this does not qualify as a mural, but I was happy seeing this.

I saw it in the quarter of our TU (technical University) - reckon Nikola Tesla is not addressed here, or is he?

I think it´s rather Model S und Model X in Braunschweig:

Or maybe this:

If you like to read more here.

In this area I also saw this:

Politics atm are burning everywhere. Luckily in Braunschweig we do not (seemingly/that I know of) have a problem with that group, but in East Germany they have in some places. We need to make sure this era never, ever comes back! Because we need to do this:

Let´s go for science, not for dumbness or hate!

I know these are actually but graffitis, yet I hope Sami is OK with this, I found these are strong messages...

Taking part again in Sami´s COLOURFULWORLD Monday Murals.
