the titus movie has a kind of cool aesthetic but idk
i think that taymor has come the closest to what i would call an interesting aesthetic for titus, though the anachronisms sometimes feel more distracting than anything else (which i don’t out and out hate given i think anachronisms can be interesting it’s just a personal critique about their effectiveness there as part of a bigger aesthetic) also someone in the comments asked if i was asking about a “pretty” production which is. not the point with titus lmao i just think most productions are poorly designed and it detracts from the play itself
legitimate question here; has there ever been an aesthetically well-done production of titus andronicus. i don’t mean well-acted, interesting thematic approach, etc. i mean why are all productions of this play SO horrible aesthetically speaking
