Nice to meet you!

WELCOME TO IMI LOA

You’ve found a space created for families navigating questions around their child’s development — the kind of questions that don’t always have easy answers.

I’m Kate. I trained in Chile as a pediatric physical therapist, I’m a CME practitioner, and I’m also a mom. With over ten years of experience in child development, early intervention, and rehabilitation, my work took on a completely new meaning when I became a mom later in my journey.

Motherhood deeply changed my perspective — the way I listen, observe, advocate, and show up for children and their families. It reshaped how I understand disability and parenthood, grounding my work in greater respect, care, and humility for each family’s unique journey.

You are not alone.

My mission is to...

Protect thoughtful, child-centered care in a world that rushes development

Seeing children for who they are, not just where they’re “supposed” to be.

I founded IMI LOA from a deep commitment to honoring each child as a whole — their abilities, their needs, and their natural rhythm. While CME is often challenging, it is never rushed. The work is intentional, precise, and grounded in clinical reasoning — designed to provoke the nervous system without forcing outcomes or skipping steps.

In a world that often prioritizes speed, comparison, and trends, especially online, I believe meaningful progress comes from knowing when to challenge and when to pause — from demanding more from the system, not the child, and respecting process over appearance.

This is the heart of IMI LOA.

How I began my journey...

I began my career working within traditional therapy settings, supporting children and families while following the models I had been trained in. Over time, I felt increasingly limited by slow progress and approaches that didn’t fully align with how I understood motor development.

I discovered Cuevas Medek Exercises (CME) through a colleague — and realized the clarity I had been searching for was closer than I thought. I went on to become one of the first internationally certified Level 3 CME practitioners from Chile, with the privilege of studying directly under Ramón Cuevas, the creator of the method. That experience reshaped my clinical reasoning and continues to guide how I challenge, observe, and support children with diverse developmental needs and abilities.

ABOUT ME, REALLY

A BIT OF REAL LIFE...

Behind my professional work, there’s real life. I’m originally from Chile, living in the U.S. for the past two years with my husband, my toddler, and our two dogs. I’m building life far from home, navigating motherhood in another language, and balancing family, work, travel, and everyday chaos — like so many parents do. I carry mom guilt, I question myself often, and as a therapist (for better or worse), I’m always learning and searching for the best ways to support my child’s development. I’m deeply curious, self-taught by nature, drawn to crafts, art, and photography — even if I’m not particularly good at them — and probably more self-demanding than I should be. IMI LOA was built from this place: real routines, real questions, imperfect days, and a deep love for meaningful work that fits into real life, not the other way around.
