Sophie here, a Digital Media Artist and Ideator of humanconcept.ca. I am trained in traditional animation and have 9 years of freelance and studio video and animation production experience. Along the way, I have become self-taught in multi-platform Art Direction, Graphic Design, and 3D modelling.

In acknowledgment of the issue regarding AI and Artists, I believe it’s important to keep humans creating art. It has been an essential part of my personal healing and being able to join the workforce doing this has been my survival. I don’t believe AI is going anywhere but forward. I would encourage AI generated art elements to be used ethically as tools and resources.

My final thought would be that while it enters our industries, may we find ways to preserve innovation by searching, connecting and supporting artists in your local and digital communities.

In a vast industry of like-minded individuals, it can be difficult standing out and conveying our creative ideas. Working as a jack-of-all-trades for the bulk of my career has allowed me to gain insight into the processes and challenges faced in content creation. The limitations of budget, limited expertise and labour accessibility can be frustrating, but talking to someone about your direction can help you achieve what you want, and be proud of it.
