I'm 19 and in need of a service dog due to my extreme anxiety/panic attacks, mobility & possible medical alert. A well trained service dog is very expensive. The training is tailored to my individual needs and takes a fair amount of time. My family's financial situation does not allow us to take on this cost at this time. My dad has a spinal cord injury and has a fixed income on disability. My mom has incurable but nonterminal cancer that requires treatment every four weeks. Our medical bills due to these issues prohibit our ability to afford the purchase and training of a service dog by ourselves.
I'm not able to work at the moment due to my health bothe mental & fisical
I have a very hard time leaving my house by myself and get extremely anxious when out in public. a service dog would allow me much more freedom and would improve my quality of life dramatically.
The dog will be trained to do tasks that will help me get through my day to day life.
Some of these tasks will include:
DPT(deep pressure therapy)
Interrupting harmful behavior (scratching, skin picking, etc.)
Find exit (helping me get out of a room or building when I'm dissociating)
Block (making space between me and people around me so I have a little more room and feel less crowded)
Mobility work
Picking thins up for me when in my wheelchair. Helping me stand up & get around.
There may be other tasks available to us that the trainer may suggest.
