Welcome to all friends, family, and passers by. I created this fundraiser to help raise money for medical expenses. I am a young 33 year old momma to 4 wonderful kiddos and wife. I have just been diagnosed with Breast cancer. I do not have the specific type at this time, but it is aggressive. My current treatment plan includes a biopsy to determine what type of cancer is involved, at least one round of chemotherapy, and followed by a mastectomy with taking at least 2-3 lymph nodes. The current goal is for my deductible, as my company just swapped insurance providers and my deductible has been reset. Anything over the goal will go towards copay or assistance for the time off of work for procedures or treatments. We would truly appreciate any help you can provide during this uncertain and difficult time for our little family. I will update the page as things progress.
How I found out:
On Sept 18, I was feeding my baby girl her last feeding of the night. My arm was resting across my chest and I realized it didn’t feel normal- more dense than usual. I got the baby to sleep and started doing a self exam. The lump I felt seemed to be of significant size (at least 1/4 - 1/3 of the breast). I called my GYN to make an appointment the next day. They initially scheduled me for Tuesday Sept 27, but I did not want to wait over a week to get seen. I called the next couple of mornings to check for cancellations and was lucky enough to grab one the following Friday.
At my GYN exam, my awesome doc did her exam and said she was fairly confident it was a cyst, but she wanted to be cautious and went ahead and scheduled me for the Mammogram and ultrasound. We got it scheduled for the following Monday (Sept 26). I cannot rave about the Women’s Health and Breast Center enough right now. I had my mammogram and was able to see the films. The tech showed me a few things (although she did not diagnose). While I waited for an ultrasound room, she informed me that the in-house radiologist saw some calcifications and wanted another set of images for that, so I got to have another, more in-depth mammogram to that side. The tech performed the ultrasound and told me that the radiologist would come in after looking at all of the images and let us know what he found.
First, this tech was amazing. Super nice and very respectful. She kept me informed of everything she was doing as she was doing it.
The radiologist was very respectful and was very honest with his findings. He told us that the way the findings were presenting, it’s very suspicious for aggressive cancer. The ultrasound also showed some lymph node enlargement, which may or may not be indicative of spread to the nodes, and it could return to normal after some chemo. He said tour next step would be to do a biopsy of the tissue, where he will take 2 breast tissue samples and 1 lymph node sample. We will have to wait 3-5 days for the results to come back and then continue our plan from there, but this will include chemotherapy. The likelihood of just removing the affected tissue will be very low due to my age and being that this is more aggressive growth, so a mastectomy will be performed. The removal of lymph nodes depend on the response to the chemo. But will possibly be 2 nodes- up to 3 at this time.
My biopsy is currently scheduled for Oct 5.
