Ribbon is only apropriate for sites with white background

I installed a theme with a tiled background-image, and noticed that the image was not transparent in the parts NOT the ribbon itself, giving a white square under the ribbon.

Which ribbon type you choose? CSS ribbons or Image ribbons?

Image ribbon, the css-ribbon disappeared for me in chrome Version 26.0.1410.64 m

I am using the default images provided by Github. Not sure whether I will be able to change it.
