Pulau Langkawi (Day 3 – Day 4)

Day 3 – Palau Payer Island

Payer Island is the best diving location at Langkawei. We reserved the 1 day trip at AB Motel. Next day, the car collected us at 7 a.m. in the morning. Unfortunately, we did have the devices of taking photo under water. My parents, father-in-law and mother-in-law went to snorkelling. They told me that there were some kinds of fish bit. They left 10 bite marks on my father-in-law’s legs…

Our hotel located at the busiest heart of Pantai Cenang. We found a McDonald there. You can see a symbol at the left bottom of the photo. Yes, this is an Muslim McDonald. Most of restaurants here are Muslim, including Subway. Every morning, we hear the Muslim music from mosque…fantastic morning alarm.

A small troop of monkeys followed us on the near side of a river for a long time. Some tourists threw bread crumbles to them. But be careful, some of them try to reach the boat. Not far from us, we can see eagles were hunting fish. Locals called them “Brahminy Kite Haliastur indus”

DSC_1426_副本This kind of fish can breath via its skin and gill, which means they do not live in water. They have two legs, which could help them climb up trees.

Our final stop is Tanjung Rhu Beach. It’s not far from Four Season Hotel and Berjaya Langkawi Beach & Spa Resort.  Tanjung Rhu Beach is known as white sand and fine texture.

BerjayaLangkawi_Family_Chalet_-_Room_InteriorBerjayaLangkawi_Premier_Suite_On_Water_-_Room_Interior_SeaviewWe stayed at Berjaya Langkawi Beach & Spa Resort one night. Our room had fantastic views. We could watch the sunset at balcony. The best choose is call the room service, so you can enjoy dinner and beautiful scenery in your room. Romantic !

Pulau Langkawi (Day 1 – Day 2)

Langkawi is synonymous with ‘tropical paradise’ – and with good reason. Since 2008 the archipelago’s official title has been Langkawi Permata Kedah (Langkawi, the Jewel of Kedah).

No doubt inspired by the island’s clear waters, relatively pristine beaches and intact jungle. The district’s been duty free since 1986 and roping in tourists well before that. Yet despite their immense drawing power, these 99 islands, dominated by 478.5-sq-km Pulau Langkawi, have not been overdeveloped beyond recognition. Get just a little way off the main beaches and this is idyllic rural Malaysia, all kampungs (villages) and oil lamps. It’s the kind of tropical island where there’s no lack of spas, seafood restaurants and beach bars, but where the locals continue to go about their ways just as they have for generations.

Langkawei is an beautiful island. We rent a small vehicle and traveled the whole island. Most of the island is covered by tropical jungle. You can see monkeys or reptiles walking leisurely. This place is fantastic traveling destination where is really suitable for family vacation.

Day One

7 A.M. in the morning

Considering the convenience of  transfer flight, the stayed at Concorde Inna Kualar Lumpur International Airport Hotel. We arrived there about 10pm. Families are totally exhausted. However, we could not escape from the problem of mosquito biting and harassing. It was a bad night for me so that I got up 7 am in the next morning.

Day Two

The morning sunshine turned the whole world into pink. Amazing! My boy found a swimming pool at Concorde Inn. He could not wait to jump into it. My father stopped him, because we would late for flight. The little thing felt so sad. Eventually he was reached by our persuasion.

Our fight from Kuala Lumpur to Langkawi just need one hour. In the LCCT airport, you should try their Donuts. They are wonderful.default(7)

During the period in the departure lounge, he got a big lollipop in reward of he did not jump into swimming pool in hotel. In additional, he did really enjoy his trip. Lots of people watching him dancing and singing.

We arrived at Langkawi international airport at 9 am. It’s really convenient to rent a car. There are some car rental counters in airport. You just needed to pay the deposit and copy your drive license. That’s all! We rent a seven-passenger vehicle.

White Lodge Hotel is extremely popular. We saw it in the Lonely Planet recommendation pages.  After we checked in, the boy told us he wanted to go to the Undersea World.DSC_1231_副本

After that, we felt like starving when we finished the Undersea World trip. So we searched the top 10 restaurants on TripAdvisor. And we got this one – Orkid Ria seafood restaurant. The most important is CHEAP and Delicious!DSC_1188_副本

Rotorua

The first time I had been here was 2009 – my lovely honeymoon. In my memory, Rotorua is a marvellous place, like sparking lakes, stunning scenery, and countless geothermal attractions. When we got close to Rotorua, there was a smell of sulphur in the area.

In addition, Māori culture and history infuse Rotorua life. The town of Rotorua, on the shores of Lake Rotorua, is home to the Te Arawa iwi – one of New Zealand’s larger Māori tribes. A third of Rotorua’s population is Māori.

Rotorua became well-known for Chinese after 2014. The China’s most popular reality tv show “Dad! Where are we going”, which is watched by hundreds of millions world-wide, was filmed in Rotorua and New Zealand’s central North Island for a week in 2014. Since then, Rotorua is one of the top 10 must-see travel destination for Chinese tourists.

Actually, Rotorua is definitely amazing place where worth you to visit. As I have mentioned before, This place is a geothermal wonderland with bubbling mud pools, clouds of steam, and natural hot springs perfect for bathing and relaxing in. You can enjoy a simple soak in a natural hot stream or indulge in a wellness getaway at a luxurious spa.

Moreover, I love restaurants here. But don’t forget to making an appointment first. I tried two restaurants in Rotorua. They are **Leonardo’s Pure Italian** and **Indian Star Tandoori Restaurant**. Leonardo’s Pure Italian is extremely popular! If you can get a table before 8pm, you are really luck, expect you reserved it in advance. Indian Start Restaurant totally changed my opinion of indian food. Spice lamb source is the perfect match to butter garlic naan.

We got up at 9am in Saturday morning, and we realised there was no restaurant opened for breakfast. Fortunately, we have Mcdonald… and we have an amazing meal. Great butterscotch coffee with huge handmade hamburgers.

After breakfast, we visited the government garden and redwood . I have too much memories here with my wife.

Great Lake Taupo

The Largest lake in New Zealand

Lake Taupo is a lake located in the North Island of New Zealand. With the surface area of 616 square kilometers, it is the largest lake in New Zealand.

We drive from Auckland via Huka Falls, which spent 3 hours 14 minuses. Unfortunately, we stopped here briefly. And then, we returned to Rotorua. Next time, I will stay here 2-3 days with my parents. I believer my father will enjoy this! He is fishing enthusiast.

From swimming in the lake in the summer, riding bikes along the Lions Walk or Tongariro River Trail, exploring the numerous playgrounds, soaking in hot pools, tasting the treats at the Huka Honey Hive, train rides in the Tongariro South Domain or trying their hand at prawn fishing or trout fishing at the Tongariro National Trout Centre, There are several actives and attractions that are suitable for family.

Huka Falls

The Huka Falls is located in the Wairakei Tourist Park, just five minutes drive north of Taupo City. Or walk to Huka Falls via the Huka Falls Walkway which begins near Otumuheke Stream at the Spa Thermal Park.

Activities around the Huka Falls

Walking Tracks

There is an easy Taupo walk that takes 2 hours return, beginning at Spa Park and finishing at Huka Falls. The track crosses our natural hot spring Otumuheke Stream and meanders through gullies, forest and open farmland, offering great views of the Waikato River and open valleys along the way.

Mountain Biking Tracks

The Rotary Ride starts at Spa Thermal Park and heads north on an easy single track for 4kms to Huka Falls. Turn back after the falls or continue your ride all the way to Aratiatia Rapids some 7kms away.
