Spring Reset - Cleanup?

Spring is here!! I love all the seasons but spring gets me sprung.  LOL Sprung into action.   Sure I will want to do the spring cleaning, get the garden going and clean up the patio.  I love enjoying the evenings as they are now warmer and the light is longer. This is the usual stuff we all do. I also like to take a look at what my schedule, habits and self care routine is like. After the Winter months, where I know I have slowed down, did not get all my January plans on the go and let a few things slide - it is time to look at what I am doing for myself as well as my surroundings. So I use seasonal changes as a time to have a look at it all.  Especially my self care.   With the changes in my living life, my occupation upgrade and the travel I am doing; my routines for self care are set in shorter chunks.  This way I can fit in these shorter chunks between patients, activities and responsibilities. My yoga routine is 10 minutes, my Tai Chi routine...

Anxiety, Exams and the Unknown

I was never one to think that I experienced anxiety.  I guess over the years you just fight through the butterflies and push forward. When I went back to school two years ago and the course was 2 years smashed into 18 months, the pace was fast and exams were weekly. All of the sudden worry, fear, increased heart rate, sweating and loosing sleep became the new norm. When I dug down into what was happening I realized it was all based on my fear.  My fear of not succeeding, not knowing what to expect, not knowing if I was on the right track - it was all on the record player increasing my self doubt and changing my behavior. Luckily, I scrambled through the archives in my brain for meditations, meditation apps, calming breathing techniques and reminding myself to break down the studying into smaller chunks. This all worked well for me, we each have to find a way to deal with our fears that create anxiety - life is not going to be perfect, nor am I going to be perfect - I jus...

Acupuncture Now Available

Hello Wellness Seekers, I am excited to have completed my training at McMaster University.  Amazing insightful teachers, and great to be around others in the field. I will be honest I was surprised at the diversity of participants;  I guess I expected everyone to be an RMT or massage therapist.   Our class had nurses, chiropractors, physio therapists and more.  It was great to listen to how they were going to implement and use acupuncture in the clinic. Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine is a long term go to resource for helping me with aches and pains, mobility and functional issues.  I still see a TCM practitioner for health and wellness support. For those aches and pains, cricks in your neck or a trigger point that just won't release; acupuncture is a unique and safe method of treating your muscle aches. We are now offering sessions along with your massage therapy visit to assist you on your wellness journey. Love and light, Cathrine

If you are going to do it - do it all!

Well why not? IF you are going to do it - do it all and get it done and then you can be off to the races. I got accepted into the Medical Acupuncture Course at McMaster University.  We all know my fondness for Eastern Arts and Medicines, so I am excited to learn more in this area and offer with the massage therapy. The course is not long but quite intense with the homework and self study - so if I miss answering an email or don't get back to a question you answered right away - be kind.  My brain had to go back into study mode.  Off to class I go. Love and light, Cathrine

Tai Chi and Qigong Classes

Tai Chi and Qigong Classes are now back on the class schedule. April, May and June we will do a 10 week session to get the creaks and groans out. As my past students have expressed their memory and their body may only remember some of the moves.  So we will work together to work out the missteps and the forgotten concepts. For those that are new to us all - Tai Chi is offered on Wednesday morning at 10 am and Wednesday evening at 7:30 pm We learn the 24 movement Abridged and Standard, 8 Pieces of Silk Brocade and a ton of Qigong exercises for breathing and healing. If interested just email the Budokan (martial arts school) at rhbudokan@gmail.com and we will set you up with free trial class. Look forward to seeing you, Love and light, Cathrine

Frustrated and Angry

Yep there I said it - I am frustrated and I am angry!  I know I am normally pretty happy go lucky and I don't loose my cool too often. BUT DARN IT ALL TO HECK !! Insurance companies are making my life a pain in the arse. I assume most companies have turn over of staff - just like every business does.  And I know there is a learning curve and I know there are things that get missed along the way. But I have to be honest I have never had such lacksadasy treatment and follow-up in my life.  GEEZ I finally got what I needed after weeks and weeks of pestering - and I don't like to pester but you are keeping me from doing what I love.   I was loosing my mind. Well back to calm and cool the insurance is done, the paper work is in and now just to wait for the college to send us the go ahead!! I am breathing, inhale, exhale - ohmmmm. Love and light,  Cathrine
