Spring is here!! I love all the seasons but spring gets me sprung. LOL Sprung into action. Sure I will want to do the spring cleaning, get the garden going and clean up the patio. I love enjoying the evenings as they are now warmer and the light is longer. This is the usual stuff we all do. I also like to take a look at what my schedule, habits and self care routine is like. After the Winter months, where I know I have slowed down, did not get all my January plans on the go and let a few things slide - it is time to look at what I am doing for myself as well as my surroundings. So I use seasonal changes as a time to have a look at it all. Especially my self care. With the changes in my living life, my occupation upgrade and the travel I am doing; my routines for self care are set in shorter chunks. This way I can fit in these shorter chunks between patients, activities and responsibilities. My yoga routine is 10 minutes, my Tai Chi routine...
I was never one to think that I experienced anxiety. I guess over the years you just fight through the butterflies and push forward. When I went back to school two years ago and the course was 2 years smashed into 18 months, the pace was fast and exams were weekly. All of the sudden worry, fear, increased heart rate, sweating and loosing sleep became the new norm. When I dug down into what was happening I realized it was all based on my fear. My fear of not succeeding, not knowing what to expect, not knowing if I was on the right track - it was all on the record player increasing my self doubt and changing my behavior. Luckily, I scrambled through the archives in my brain for meditations, meditation apps, calming breathing techniques and reminding myself to break down the studying into smaller chunks.
