Humana/CenterWell & NHMA Resident Physician Scholarship Program

The Humana/CenterWell & National Hispanic Medical Association (NHMA) Resident Physician Scholarship Program is a pilot initiative designed to support bilingual physician residents committed to advancing culturally responsive primary care in Florida, combining $10,000 in professional development funding, structured mentorship, real-world clinical exposure and national recognition.

Why This Program Matters

Bilingual physicians play a critical role in improving access, trust and health outcomes in diverse communities. Yet many residents particularly those from historically under-resourced backgrounds face financial and networking barriers that limit access to advanced training and leadership pathways. This scholarship addresses those barriers directly and builds a more prepared, confident and culturally responsive physician workforce ready to lead in primary care.

Program Highlights

Seven scholars will be selected to receive a comprehensive package of funding, mentorship and experiential learning opportunities.

$10,000 Educational & Professional Development Award
