Advancing Global Standards

On May 11 to 13, 2027, the global engineering community will gather in London, England for the International Conference on Shaft Design and Construction (SDC2027).

This internationally recognized conference serves as the forum for professionals dedicated to the design, planning, and construction of shaft infrastructure.

Organized by the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3) in collaboration with the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM), SDC2027 continues a legacy of technical excellence spanning more than six decades.

A tradition of technical excellence

The SDC series has historically been a platform for milestones in the industry. Since its inaugural session in London in 1959, the conference has moved across the globe, from Harrogate to Toronto, to address the evolving challenges of sub-surface engineering.

The 2027 return to London signifies a renewed commitment to advancing the intellectual property and technical standards shared by the IOM3 and CIM.

Who should attend?

  • Engineers and Project Managers specializing in mining and civil sectors.
  • Consultants and Contractors focused on ground engineering and excavation.
  • Academics and Researchers contributing to geotechnical and hydrological advancements.
  • Suppliers of specialized construction materials and shaft furnishings.
