While the December holidays and festivities might be over, that summer feeling is still around. My favourite activity on the weekends at the moment is just to relax around the pool, especially with this heat we’ve been having. I recently popped in at Menlyn Park Shopping Centre in Pretoria and had a look around at items that would be perfect for your weekend chill sessions. Summer Essentials

Turn your poolside into a personal oasis with loungers and outdoor patio furniture like the ones I spotted at Mr Price Home in my reel. Picture yourself basking in the sun, cocktail in hand, on a stylish lounger that complements your outdoor space. Cute glassware is a must! To be on the safe side, choose stainless steel tumblers or reusable plastic/acrylic glassware and crockery. We don’t want to have broken glass in or near our pools! You can pop into any of Menlyn’s Home and Decor stores listed for some of these items.

Sun protection in the form of sunscreens; sun hats and big umbrellas are an absolute must! Between fashion and homeware stores you can find a a variety of stylish sun-blocking umbrellas and fabulous big hats to keep you cool and protected during those scorching summer days. Choose a design that suits your style, whether it’s a tropical print or a classic solid color. Your skin will thank you, and your pool day photos will never have looked better.

Another product I like to have around while I’m lounging by the pool, is a portable speaker. Chose a small one that you can easily carry around with you and links via Bluetooth. Cooler boxes are another great essential – you’ve got to keep those drinks ice cold 😉
