And when she’s feeling all the feels
She feels so vulnerable in her skin
And also so very, very whole

Maybe I just need to be seen and heard
She cries, but she knows the truth
Though she longs to walk through life transparent
She hides her innermost feelings
And when they inevitably start to seep out
The world quickly works to tuck them back in again
Keeping all things real
But not too real to make anyone uncomfortable
Only her

The Angels remind us to be bold and daring, and also vulnerable with our hearts. Protect but do not encase. Wield truth but do not forget compassion.

The Angels remind us that the love in our hearts is too big not to share, though it may feel too frightening, vulnerable, and raw. Hearts are meant to be broken open to radiate the love.

Your love,
It reaches to me
Across oceans,
Through unrequited nights,
And the pounding thunder
Of soulful storms
Your love,
It reaches to me
Through the cracks which make up
My broken inner being,
My naked soul,
Open for the taking,
Masqueraded in the cloak of human life,
Trials and tribulations but a dream
To the love which reaches through
Your love,
Reaches into the depths
Of my unshakable soul
Your love,
It makes me whole

The Angels remind us that healing doesn’t fully happen in a cocoon. Part of the work is deeply personal, and part happens when we emerge back into the world and allow others to hold space for us, just as we are.

The Angels remind us that staying open and vulnerable is key to change. It may seem we need to protect ourselves, for this world can be harsh. Yet when we cut off our energy in the name of protection, we risk losing the deeper truth of us.

The Angels remind us to let our true colors show, to remove our masks so that we may be seen in our true forms, vulnerable yet real. This is how we connect, this is how we give ourselves room to grow.
The world needs to know
the beauty of you,
the soft lines
of the tears you cry
when you think no one
is watching,
the hard lines engraved
by the myriad of tragedies,
large and small,
that form the rugged map
of your heart.
Bare it all,
show them who you are
under the pain mask,
in the spotlight
naked as the day
you were born,
show them your heart,
let them tread upon it
and then love them even more,
love you, in all your splendorous,
naked glory,
love you even more,
shatter the mask
and show the world
the love you hide within

As the cold anger
flows down like concrete,
heavy and clinging in all the creases,
let it go,
let it coat your soul
in its grey thickness
until even the sun can’t shine in,
and once dry,
let them walk upon it,
expose it to the elements,
wear it down, thin its layers
until the cracks form
and piece by piece it crumbles away,
washes into the sea of your indebted gratitude
save but for one piece,
held in your pocket
as a reminder of your hardness,
the road traveled as a heavy object
now shattered and lifted to the sky
as a symbol of the way
you no longer choose to be
