Holding back a raging river
Threatening at every moment to unleash her power
And when it falls
She will be washed in the tenderness
Of her own healing tears

Give yourself grace
She hears
And her silent tears fall
The light she needs most
Is in inside her
After all

Some days, we just need to be reminded that we are what we need.
We are enough.
We are whole.
We may struggle or doubt but we’re not broken, just human.
And the light inside us is not only what we need, but it’s needed by others too.
We are a light to someone else, whether we know it or not.
And for all these reasons, we can stop being so hard on ourselves.
We’re perfect, just as we are.
Where are you giving yourself grace today?

Is there an answer
For why the stars
Hang in the sky
Or why grass only grows
So high
Or why the hardest things
Always seem to bring
Tears of joy she can never cry

She sees her tears
And fears
As helpers
Pulling her out
Of her dark spaces
By shining light on where
She needs to go
And grow

Through all her years
And many tears
The light has not gone out
But has rather lit more fires
The more she tends
And makes amends
To her gentle heart
For nurturing her desires

She climbs
With her broken heart in her pocket
And her tears carving the path
Striving toward a hand to hold
And lead the way
Up, over, and through
What she thought would break her
But instead has saved her

For all who feel the sorrow
For all who carry the gravity
Of a situation they can’t control
For all who feel useless inside
For all who feel scared outside
Yet go on anyway
For all who feel joy in the quiet moments
Despite the burning around them
For all who don’t see a way forward
I envision for us the blocks being carried away
I envision for us the streams running free
Carrying away our collective tears
I envision for us the waves of grief washing over
Leaving us battered and spurting and healed
I envision us holding each other’s hands
In sweet surrender
