Her whole life before her
She takes one step,
And then another,
Into the wilderness of her own mind
Feeding herself on words
Which fall like manna from the sky,
Deepening into her descent
Until the blackness swallows her whole
And on the other side
She finds the peace she’d not dared to seek
Peeking out from behind every obstacle,
Offering its battered hand
I’m home, she thinks
And even in her solace, she knows better
She can’t hide here forever
She has to learn to bring peace back home
