We are planting a church in the Tokyo area with the Assemblies of God. My wife, daughter and I are all going with a team in order to plant a church in order reach the local Japanese people. Japan is an incredible niche because it's a place with religious freedom, access to information, and yet such a hopeless culture and such a low christian percentage.

In 1549, Christianity was introduced to Japan by Portugese missionaries and a desire for political power and trade supremacy led to the outlawing of Christianity. In 1637, nearly 37,000 Christians were killed and the government continued to persecute Christians. In order to enforce this, government officials visited the entire nation with a metal plate bearing the image of Jesus and demanded that people either step on the image and renouce their faith or they would be killed.

Hundreds of years later the opportunity that exists in Japan is because of globalization, the younger generations are leaving the Buddhist and Shinto religions in search of something more. God has prepared the field for harvest through relationship and making disciples. We believe that God can change the hearts of the Japanese people and bring light to such a hopeless culture. The spiritual darkness that encompasses the people of Japan is something that can only be answered through Christ. Partner with us first in prayer as we pursue the hope and freedom that God has promised to the Japanese people.
