Acheron Mod is a free game utility for PC created by Acheron Development Team. It's a weapon mod for the military-themed first-person shooter game, Battlefield 2142. Taking inspiration from the popular Alien films, it adds the weapons used by the US Colonial Marine Corp in the movie.

Battlefield: Aliens
James Cameron's legendary sequel to the Alien film, named Aliens, is one of the most popular sci-fi films of all time, garnering a cult status. The whole humans vs. aliens narrative is a classic, but more than that, the suits and weapons in the movie were cool. The Acheron Mod aims to replicate the look of the guns used by the US Colonial Marine Corps to battle the intergalactic threat.
The Acheron Mod took inspiration from various scenes in the film for its design. The "sentry gun scene" provided the iconograpy and color scheme for your HUD. You can also adjust the Crosshair Color from within the HUD Settings menu. The latest weapon to be added is a Fire Extinguisher, which you can request for through your comms. You also get an overhauled APC with improved exterior and interior design.
What's more, there is an extra game mode called Conquest: Hive Assault Mode that takes inspiration from the enemies from the film itself. There are also four maps available that cycle through day and night cycles that you can set. Before proceeding, just note that the mod is still only in the Alpha stages of development, and there is plenty of work to be done still.
The game adaptation that never was
If you ever thought about what the Aliens movie would be like if it was made into a game, Archeron Mod is one of the closest things you'll get to that. It's built on the solid Battlefield 2142, just with cosmetic tweaks to make it look more like the movie, and you even get an extra game mode. This is worth a look for any fan of the franchise.
